The IC-RX7 is an interesting new  wide-band handheld receiver from Icom. Slim and stylish in design, the RX7 features a water-resistant construction allowing it to be used outside in wet conditions and uses a menu driven user interface and intuitive controls allowing the user to scan and manage their favourite frequencies.

Icom, in my opinion, whilst having created an undoubtedly  cosmetically appealing design have taken "their eye off the ball" somewhat when it comes to the scanner basics,  in that memory  programming does not follow perhaps what many users would regard as the accepted convention ie xxx channels in xx banks.  Instead you create a Category name eg Air 1,  a Group name eg Manchester, a Channel name (which I used for frequency data, as unusually the inputted frequency is not displayed during memory scan otherwise) and finally a Channel number.  The nett result is that memory programming does takes longer and needs to be planned.
