 Unlike that of hand held scanners, the range of realistically priced home base models continues to remain severely limited. So, put simply, if you want the best value for money, then the latest offering from Uniden, the UBC785XLT fits the bill.

Although not continuous frequency coverage, what's missed out is of little consequence, as it's not a communications area. Delightfully simple in operation, but providing user override of  factory default settings of receiving mode and frequency step size. Other notable features include PC Interface, Memory Name tagging, Dial control for memory or frequency selection, Line output tape jack and Good quality audio.
