Since its' market realignment, the VR-120D is now the best buy in the circa £100 "compacts" and whilst it does not have 8.33khz step, my tests have proved that the VR-120D will receive these transmissions fine when 5khz step is selected .

Providing a frequency coverage of 100kHz to 1300MHz (no gaps) and selectable receiving modes of  AM, FM & WFM ,
this allows reception of not only Civil and Military Air Bands, but also AM & FM Broadcast bands, Short-wave Broadcast bands,  VHF Marine Band, VHF & UHF Amateur Radio bands and Utility bands.
