Hi David

What a fantastic piece of kit!!!Yesterday morning, with the BaseStation 'show all' depressed, I had 169 aircraft [112 without].  I generally get around 100 [60]

Amazing!!
All the best

If you are thinking of an external aerial, or already have one for your Virtual Radar system and are looking to achieve the maximum reception range possible, then the addition of a signal booster (pre-amplifier) is worth considering.

Pre-amps come in two types - "set back"  or "mast head", both will boost the number of "contacts" you see, however, whilst "set back" ones are more convenient to fit, you'll already have lost some "contacts" via the cable run. A "mast head" type, as the name implies, is sited close the the aerial, so that very little signal strength  is lost before being amplified.

The A12-1090 is a Low Noise Amplifier designed to improve the reception of the Mode S / ADS mode B signals sent out by the commercial aircraft at 1090 MHz and can be conveniently used with any model of Virtual Radar system. It is housed in a waterproof ABS case suitable for 44 mm max diameter mast and supplied with a BT-12 Bias Tee interface box to power the amplifier through the coax cable.

The A12-1090 will also help to protect your Virtual Radar system against Static Discharge, which can occur during thunderstorms, by bleeding away excess static.
